New Job – Same or New Career
When you’re looking for a job, it’s usually because you are ready to move on to something bigger and better. Sometimes that means a new profession or industry altogether.
Your resume needs to reflect your specific jumping-off point, whether it’s a natural progression from one position to a new advanced one… or a leap to a new field entirely.
Your resume is the map to your readiness for your new job, for you as an employee – a YOU that’s eager for the next challenge and opportunity. And as a “map,” it also needs to direct the reader to where you are going (“the bigger and better”).
Your resume is your first impression, your calling card, and needs to be flawless.
With no opportunity – EVER – to make another “first impression,” the documents that represent you in a job search – your resume, cover letter, and the all-important LinkedIn profile – must be deliberately and consciously crafted.
Having carefully written and key-worded materials will help you get the response you want from recruiters and more importantly, to forge the journey through the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), which kick many more resumes to the curb than get forwarded on to HR.
If you’re like most people, you probably feel like your resume screams “Hire me in the same field for the same thing because I cannot do ANYTHING ELSE!!”
I want to show you how you can inventory your existing skills and leverage them to make your resume “new-industry” ready, with your transferable skills and experience perfectly highlighted to make them see what a great hire you would be because of everything you already know.
And yes, there will be some work involved – for instance, if you don’t know what you want to do next or aren’t sure how a profession will fit into your life, you’ll need to find out.
You want your resume to make it through the ATS and then go on to HR. Right?

Gladys has developed a structure to resume building that hones in on what you have achieved, what your transferable skills are, and then focuses on what your practical experiences are as well as your educational background. She not only provides her invaluable take on resume-building, but she mentors you on how to market yourself on social business platforms like Linkedin, Indeed, etc. Job hunting is a full-job and can feel like you are throwing a dart in the dark sometimes, but Gladys is always looking out for you. She is consistently sharing job postings and connections she thinks would suit you. Additionally, when I was in the middle of some demanding applications Gladys had my back whether it was 9AM or 9PM. She truly wants the best for her clients. She takes great pride in helping you harness your passions and creates a game plan for how to best go after them. She’ll always be in your corner and won’t stop until you have secured a desired job!
Prior to working with Gladys, I could not get interviews for jobs that I knew I was qualified for. My resume did not seem to capture my skill set and how to best apply them. I kept having to settle for jobs I really did not want to do and had difficulty thriving in them because I knew I was meant to work elsewhere. The fit was not right. Then I reached out to Gladys to help me with my resume. She looked over my resume and we talked about my prior experience. She came up with the perfect way to showcase my skills and create multiple resumes to focus on different areas that I could go into. All I know is, I now have a job that I am truly happy with and working does not seem like a chore. Going above and beyond does not make me resentful because I am so happy to work everyday. Gladys is an amazing listener and patient. She hung in there with me when I was going through a difficult time. She is masterful at balancing business and the angst that people can go through when we are figuring out our lives.
After working backstage in theater for a long while, I realized that a gig-based career like the one I had as a technician was not for me. So I started working as a receptionist in a church and decided to go back to college. In that job I encountered people who needed more help than the church could provide, so I decided that my life’s work would be to help these people (homeless, ill, etc.). Even without a degree and with no prior experience, Gladys worked with me and made my resume into a skills-based (functional) one that got me noticed by my target agency. Not only did I get that job, I got a whopping 20% salary bump! Best investment I ever made in myself.
My theatre resume before working with Gladys was too cluttered and not concise. Since working with her, I have a new, aesthetically pleasing and clear resume that highlights my best credits and accomplishments, which helps display my career in the best light. I’ve been excited with the results and have been getting called in more for audition appointments when submitting for regional gigs and various projects. When it’s time to do some sprucing up, I will definitely hit Gladys up again! I totally recommend her services!
Before I had a chance to work with Gladys, I was mostly writing my own CVs and Resumes/cover letters with the help of my sister who is a savant in her field of literature. So I was quite impressed when Gladys was not only able to incorporate the work I had done with my sister on the cover letter to then encompass a very diverse CV into a resume that was both visually appealing and to the point. All important aspects of any Resume for me, being a “Jack of All”. We had deep discussions and needed very little revisions. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured to “get it done”, she was as invested in getting it right and following up to see if the Resume had landed me the gig(it did) post mortem! I cannot recommend Gladys enough, she is a true master of her craft while also making you feel comfortable and working with very different and hectic schedules!
I keep on having to raise my prices so I am not so busy! It’s amazing… it’s coming up to another increase again. You really helped me see a lot of stuff and you helped me realize that just what I imagined in myself was not all there was. You made me imagine a life that was bigger than what I thought I could do, a me that was bigger than I thought I was. You helped me imagine that and you helped me take other steps and dare to take some risks and that is amazing because I was so scared of life, scared of everything. And now I’m just so confident and I feel like I can do anything, I really do!
Working with Gladys was a joy for me… I was going through a stage of needing to reassess how I spend my time and how to determine what my purpose at this point in my life is [and]… finding what really is of value to me. Through Gladys’ positive encouragement and supportive questioning, I was able to release myself of some of the “shoulds” I carry and really begin to explore those things that give my life real joy. I left the sessions feeling inspired and worthwhile, with the weight of “shoulds” off my shoulders. Gladys is a good listener and an inspired, and inspiring, person to work with.
